Help Your Kids Win $500 in Our Can a video change the world? We’re betting it can. CHARACTER COUNTS! is giving kids the opportunity to prove the power of positive persuasion by holding its first ever online video competition. The challenge is to make a short film (up to two minutes) demonstrating how one of the Six Pillars of Character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, or citizenship) has created a better world. We’ll choose the finalists; fans will select the top three. First place will take home $500, second gets $300, and third, $200.

Calling All Modern Students!
Edutopia.org wants to hear from your students about which skills they think their school should teach to help them succeed in life. Kids are experts on the modern digital world, and we think it's time adults listened. Help your students create videos stating their opinions, and submit them by October 15 -- we'll publish our favorites on Edutopia.org.
- Film competition available for students in grades 6-12: The Young Minds Digital Times Film Competition has opened its call for entries. The global competition is free to student filmmakers from grades 6-12, to submit entries such as short films, documentaries, music videos or public service announcements for professional review. Winners in each of the two grand prize categories will receive trips for two to the South By Southwest Film and Interactive Festival on March 13-17, 2009. Eighteen finalists will be awarded prizes in two major tracks and eight categories with the winners announced on or before February 13, 2009. Additionally, there will be Judges Choice Awards for categories such as Most Creative and Most Innovative Problem Solving. The deadline for registration is October 17, 2008 and the final entry submission deadline is December 19, 2008. We're looking for short videos that will be included online and in the documentary series - produce and share one!
